Platco Digital is an independent distribution company offering digital carriage solutions on various platforms including direct to home (DTH) and Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). Its main objective is to help free TV broadcasters cost-effectively reach audiences. Platco Digital will be launching OpenView HD, a free-to-view direct to home (DTH) satellite offering on the 15th October 2013. OpenView HD will carry licensed free TV channels locally and, ultimately, in the rest of Africa.
Platco is a sister company of the South African independent broadcaster e.tv (Pty) Limited. Both are owned by Sabido Investments (Pty) Limited, a South African media group with holdings in a variety of broadcasting, content, production, facilities and distribution businesses. Platco Digital has its offices in Bryanston, Johannesburg and uplink facilities in Cape Town.

Meet Our Managing Director
Patrick Conroy is currently the Managing Director of Platco Digital the company behind South Africa’s fastest growing satellite TV service Openview HD.
He joined Platco in March 2016 with a background in broadcast operations, brand management and marketing.
Previously he was the Managing Director all news operations at e.Sat TV (Pty) Ltd which produces the 24 hour news channel eNCA on DStv channel 403, eNCA.com, eNews Direct on e.tv and eNuus on kykNET. Conroy oversaw the launch of eNCA, its online division and eNuus.
He joined e.tv in 2001 as a senior journalist and also worked as a TV producer. He previously worked in radio (Talk Radio 702), print (London, Evening Standard) and advertising (The Jupiter Drawing Room, Cape Town).
He is the author of Everest Untold (non-fiction) an account of his experiences on Mount Everest in 1996.
He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Africa Foundation’s Radio Journalist of the Year and the Vodacom TV news journalist of the year in 2002 and 2004. More recently in 2014 he and his marketing team won a gold Promax in New York for the excellence in promotion and marketing of eNCA.
In 2005 Conroy was awarded the Clive Menell Media Fellowship to Duke University in North Carolina, USA.
